The 2014 Riverfront Concert Series: The Bumper Jacksons
Date: 6:30pm EDT June 19The C.V. Starr Center for the Study of the American Experience presents the 2014 Washington College Riverfront Concert Series on the Chester River. The music begins on Thursday, June 19 at 6:30 P.M. with a rollicking performance by The Bumper Jacksons.
The Bumper Jacksons are a big, fat party. Wielding washboard, clarinet, guitar, bass, pedal steel, and “The Suitcase,” the group’s high energy, varied instrumentation, and intelligent repertoire sets them apart from other folk groups. Powerful vocal harmonies characterize their sound, as they slide seamlessly between street jazz, early blues, old time, and country swing.
The Washington College Riverfront Concert Series includes three Thursday evening summer concerts on the Custom House Lawn at the corner of Water and High Streets. Each family style concert begins at 6:30 P.M. and includes free lemonade and cookies. Folks are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, picnics and blankets. These concerts are free and open to the public. Please help spread the word and bring a few friends!
