The linkage analysis project was taken on in January of 2013 with the purpose of combining all the existing data sets available to Washington College into on comprehensive database. The resulting combination of this data will allow us to make “Spider Map” charts showing connections between offenders, their addresses, and other offenders.
Once the GIS Lab develops a master i2 database of offenders, their addresses, and information associated with them, the database will be web-enabled. This web based version of the i2 database will enable law enforcement users to create their own “Spider Maps” in relation to whatever person or address of interest they find necessary. “Spider Mapping” is a new and unique form of Criminal Analysis that will broaden Maryland Law Enforcement’s crime analysis capabilities and will continue to prove advantageous for years to come.
