In addition to learning to work state of the art software, if you attend our Summer Institute you’ll get the chance to stay in beautiful historic Chestertown. This page serves as an introduction to the area and will help you find the perfect accommodations for your stay in Chestertown.
The Washington College GIS Lab is located in Chestertown on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. In addition to providing professional development training for professionals in the field of geographic information systems, Washington College is a liberal arts school serving approximately 1500 undergraduate and graduate students. During the summer, Chestertown is a wonderful place to stay, with the GIS Lab only a 20 minute walk to the water. Downtown Chestertown features a variety of shops and restaurants which will make your Summer Institute training seem more like a miniature vacation.
Hotels and B&Bs
In order to provide housing for all of our workshop participants, the GIS Lab has reserved rooms at the Comfort Suites (160 Scheeler Road) and Holiday Inn Express (150 Scheeler Road) hotels. Simply mention the Washington College GIS Summer Institute to take advantage of the reserved rooms.
In addition, the Chestertown area has a host of small and large bed and breakfasts for those looking for a more low-key experience. Downtown Chestertown has five smaller establishments within walking distance of the GIS Lab, and dozens more are only a short drive away. Check out the Kent County website for more information.
