Recycling

Through campus recycling efforts, Washington College diverts nearly 2,000 pounds of trash a week from landfills.

Plastic and glass bottles, aluminum and tin cans, cardboard, and paper are collected in special receptacles.

Tall Blue Bins for Bottles and Cans


Do Recycle:

  • Empty Aluminum/Steel/Tin Cans
  • Empty Plastic Bottles Empty Glass Bottles and Jars

Do Not Recycle:

  • Cups
  • Trash
  • Plastic Types 3-7

Green Bins for Paper and Cardboard


Do Recycle:

  • Paper - office paper, newspaper, magazines, catalogs, soft cover books, junk mail, envelopes, posters
  • Corrugated cardboard boxes - including pizza boxes milk and juice cartons

Do Not Recycle:

  • Trash
  • Cans and Bottles
  • Plastic Bags
  • Napkins, paper towels, tissues, straws

Gray Bins for Sensitive Documents

In offices and academic buildings.

  • Papers are secured in locked bins until they can be shredded.
