Each year, the Locavore Lit Fest celebrates Washington College’s commitment to environmental sustainability by bringing food local authors to campus.

This year’s Locavore Lit Fest kicked off at Evergrain bakery with a cheese making demonstration as well as a talk by Jim Weaver, author of Locavore Adventures. There was also a selection of wines and cheeses produced and provided by local farms such as Crow Farm and Cassinelli Winery. -
CHESTERTOWN, MD—The third annual Locavore Lit Fest will bring national and regional writers to Chestertown from March 21st through 24th for a series of talks on how local foods can be the catalyst for healing our environment, healing our health, and building community. -
The Student Environmental Alliance at Washington College established a garden to promote campus sustainability and experiential learning. -

It’s easy to fall in love with Chestertown, a colonial port town with a deep historic heritage, riverfront vistas, and a variety of local restaurants, merchants, and traditions. -
As part of the second annual Locavore Lit Fest at Washington College, Rewild Portland Executive Director Peter Bauer (Urban Scout) demonstrates how to use makeshift materials to create a bow drill for starting a fire. -
The Locavore Literary Festival opened with special guest speaker Lierre Keith, who explained the moral, political, and nutritional issues that surround our food choices.
